What is waist-to-height ratio?

Waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) compares your waist circumference with your height. It is calculated by dividing waist circumference by height when both measurements use the same unit.

It matters because the Army uses WHtR as its sole Army Body Composition Program measurement standard to support readiness and long-term health.

Army standard: A WHtR below 0.55 meets the standard. A WHtR of 0.55 or greater does not meet the standard.
